Bipartisan Efforts to Help Struggling Water Systems

Bipartisan Efforts to Help Struggling Water Systems

dreamstime s 6034467

Great bipartisan showing this week in the House Energy & Commerce Committee to provide much needed assistance to communities struggling to maintain safe and affordable drinking water systems.  Kudus to Chairman Walden and Ranking Member Pallone, as well as subcommittee Chair, Rep. Shimkus, and Ranking Member, Rep. Tonko, and their personal and committee staff for putting aside partisan differences to bring much needed help to so many communities.

Here is a link to HR 3387, Drinking Water Improvement Act of 2017, and Amendments to HR 3387 adopted just yesterday, which includes increased monitoring and reporting of unregulated contaminants in smaller systems, and authority for states to compel and financially incentivize consolidation for systems in serious noncompliance posing risks to human health.

Action now moves to the Senate.
